My October Finishes
The following photos are my October finishes. First, is a t-shirt quilt--my very first one. Constructing a t-shirt quilt is an interesting learning experience. I have one more to finish and that will be my last one. I visited a quilt shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming and the workers tell potential customers that a t-shirt quilt will cost at least $800. Most pass because of the price.
This quilt was not too bad and I think it turned out pretty nice. It is for one of my husband's relatives. She has not seen the finished quilt, but she never looks at my blog--I am sure. The sashing is a yellow and dark blue print plus a dark blue sashing on two sides of the block.
The second quilt is a baby quilt for my niece. This is my third baby quilt and the last until after the new year. I have another great nephew/niece to be born in March or April.
I have always loved Sunbonnet Sue quilts. My very first quilt was a Sunbonnet Sue. The applique for the first quilt was a kit with the applique already cut. On this quilt, I used the small Sunbonnet Sue Accuquilt die to cut the SBS. I wanted it to be different than just blocks and sashing so tried the Irish Chain blocks. I freemotion quilted the white blocks with a Sunbonnet Sue motif. The crosshatching looked strange with the angle of the SBS's skirt so I added a circle around the doll to help the problem. I quilted the border in the ditch. I do hope my precious great niece will enjoy this quilt. I probably should have added a SunBonnet Sue in each white block, but I was following a pattern from an Eleanor Burns book. The next one I attempt, I may add a SBS to the other white blocks.

Chevrons
I wanted to see if I could add pockets and crosses to t-shirts. I only had red chevron material as you can tell. I am about 45 minutes from the nearest quilt store, so I used what I had. I originally purchased the chevron material for the reversible purse which is shown below. Not sure if I will use any of them--I just had a few hours of fun in my quilt shack.
