A-n-o-t-h-e-r Quilt in first 5 months of 2023

This is a quilt with history. About 17 or 18 years ago, Carol and Gary said their wedding vows. Before marriage Carol asked family and friends to create a 6X6 inch aida memory block. Well, this many years later, I was asked to redesign the original quilt.

My imagination is rather limited, but came up with this quilt trying not to damage the original designs. It has been returned to them and hope they enjoy it for years to come. The fun comes in looking at the blocks and thinking about the friends and family who created a block.

(I could not quilt on the 6 by 6 blocks due to buttons, paint, lace, etc. that were added to the block.)

More Baby Quilts

Baby quilts completed first months of 2023.

Above quilt was for Wells

Daniel's quilt

Willow's quilt

Close up of two blocks in a couple of the above quilts.

This bib was for Nora Clay. I am now working on her a girly quilt.

Busy the first of months of 2023

Wish I had a better photo. The background of this quilt is white. I loved this quilt! I inserted a panel I received with the fat quarter bundle as part of the background. This was a baby quilt for Kinley, my great niece. I started making family baby quilts a little larger.

Last Quilt of 2022

Here is my last quilt of 2022. I enjoyed getting back to quilting. This was a quilt for a special couple in our church. They married at Christmas and I made one of my "go to" quilts--a jelly roll Christmas quilt. Size is about 42" by 56", I think.

Sunday Rambling

A few of my recent projects

Quilt for Merrick Wallace born in April. He received a larger baby quilt.

See this cool thank you card with a photo of the quilt
I made for a friend.

First photo show notebooks from my In the Hoop embroidery machine. I love making these notebook covers. So much fun to come out looking so professional.

Isn’t this an interesting quilt!! I received a hugh tub full of a lifetime of fabric from a friend. This lady is an artist and I am not. I could make a crumb quilt but I wanted something different. Different I got. Really I liked it and would keep it if she did not want it. (Like my husband’s feet showing in the picture. He is a jewel!)

A Little Catching Up

Just a little catching up on projects not posted in a few months. I stay busy in my quilting room. It is my happy place. I always apologize for the photo quality. I imagine one day learning how to take a better picture.

This first quilt is one I love, but the picture does not do the colors justice. It is 55" by 55" and made of Free Spirit fabrics which are so bright and cheery. It is from a book called "Happy Hour" and I have made so many quick quilts from this book.

This next quilt is made from the scraps of the above quilt appropriately named "Secondhand Strips Quilt". It is about 58.5" by 75.5". It was so fun and was claimed by one of my granddaughters who helped me with the quilt.

This next quilt is a girl baby quilt for a special lady in my church. It is a disappearing nine patch with sashing and cornerstones added -- another go-to pattern.

This is another baby quilt for another special friend in our church. Just a patchwork of squares of blues with a touch of yellow. The backing was pieced with from leftover fabric and I added the baby's name in block letters cut from my Accuquilt.

This next photo are three dolls I made with my dear friend, Janet. She had a friend who had a nephew born without a thumb. The doctors will perform surgery to add a thumb using his pointing finger. We made the "Dolls like me" for each of the three sisters. The hands were a challenge!!!

Next-- a look at my Christmas stockings I made from Shabby Fabrics. They were so much fun and so adorable.

I have posted this next picture several years ago but never had a full view of the quilt. I found this and wanted to post it just for me.

The next few pictures are of my "travel quilt". This hexagon quilt has been in progress since 2008. The hexes for been from Port Gibson, MS to Peru (8 times), New Zealand, Alaska, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Shipshewanna, Gatlinburg and all the states in between. I have finally finished it. The ladies in one of my favorite quilts shops in Gatlinburg picked out the gray border. No other color seemed to work. I did add the border to protect the sides of the quilt. I am not sure how long the points would stay points if handled. After so many years in the making, I did not think I had another 10+ years to handquilt, so I used my Gammill Elevate to quilt it and get it finished. It was about time!

This last photo is a picture of some fleece throw blankets I purchased. I added a "patch" with embroidered saying -- "Jesus loves me this much", "God's Love Never Fails", "Hope", "You are fearfully and wonderfully made", "You are Special", "With God, All Things are Possible", and "For I Know the Plans I Have for You, Declares the Lord." These blankets will be used by a church friend of mine who works with human trafficking victims and sometimes must rescue them. Imagine the feeling of wrapping in a warm and soft blanket . . . .
